Original Work
I was inspired to create this animation after learning how to use blender to make animations in a tutorial by the artist Worthikids. I also wanted to create a stylized character, so I experimented with character designs of how I wanted the overall character to look as well as costumes she would be dressed through the course of the short. I wanted her to be a somewhat clumsy, but sociable character, but who was decidedly very naive in appearance.

I settled on a character with bangs since these types of characters usually suggest shyness or seriousness, but her childlike features and stray hair at the top of her head makes her seem a lot cuter, naive, and open, like I intended.

This was my first time working on a digital art illustration and I really anted to experiment with lighting. I also wanted to create an illustration to visualize my character before I began to animate.

The animation process began with a general storyboard. Then I drew the keyframes. On a new layer I used shapes to help guide my animation proportions, and created a polished line art animation layer for the body. The rest of the process took around one month, included animating follow through of her clothing and skirt, as well as adding facial expressions and details.
